Reset

Looks like I'm going to have to take a step back.   Despite my grand plans for this winter, as the end of February approaches, I think it's clear I didn't accomplish much.   Such is the way of things, and at this point it doesn't make sense to get upset about it.   I've remained moderately active, and haven't lost ground in my weight loss attempts, so that's something.   Winter has been and probably will always be a tough time for me to be super active, just because my energy is so low.   Add into that an unusually injury and illness filled off-season, and at this point I'm just happy I didn't end up on the couch eating cookies for three months!

So, what to do now?   I need to get back into the swing of things, and naturally, I just want to jump in and get back to it.  However, I've been doing a bit of reading, and it seems that would be inadvisable.  So, the next two weeks are officially designated as "getting back in the saddle".   I'm going to work on getting back to a workable training schedule a bit at at time, so I don't, say, destroy my quads trying to do back to back intensity workouts after being a slacker.  I've done that, it hurts.

The only remaining complication is my skull, which after having a high-speed impact with some ice and concrete is giving me some hassles when my heart rate gets pumping.  Not sure if it's something to worry about yet, but I'm giving it until the end of the week before I hit up my doctor (ah, the joys of maxing out your deductible in the first three weeks of the year!).   I'm reasonably certain if it is related to a concussion or similar it'll just be a wait it out game anyhow, but I suppose better safe than sorry.

Tonight's workout - Spin (1 hr or until the head dictates otherwise)
